Forgetting turns to Rebellion Ps 106:7

Ps 106:7

7 Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the Sea, at the Red Sea. ESV

- Forgetting what God had done produced rebellion in them. A grateful and worshiping heart doesn’t rebel. Do you intentionally remember what God has done for you? The Israelites never intentionally forgot God it just happened (2 Chron 12:14). I often feel that I will be okay because I want to be good. I think that I will just slide along and never make the mistakes that Israel made but it isn’t true. They fell into the messes they were in because they jumped on the ride of life and just went where ever the ride took them. They let their focus and meditation be on what ever popped up in front of them. I think this is a temptation for all of us. We all get busy and sometimes just want to ride life instead of deliberately choosing where we will go and what we will meditate on. God help me to choose to follow you to choose to set my heart on you to choose to remember you all the days of my life (Ps 103:2). Help me to live out of a grateful heart. May my meditation always draw me closer to you.

- Ps 104:34; 119:15; Rom 1:21

Can or should you be followed? 1 Cor 11:1

1 Cor 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. NKJV

- Num 27:16-17; Eph 5:1; James 3:1; Prov 20:11; Acts 20:18; 1 Cor 4:16; 1 Peter 5:3; Heb 13:7; Phil 3:17, 4:9;

- Can or should your life be followed?

- This is probably my favorite verse in Corinthians. I love the whole idea that it is not what I say but what I do that is suppose to be the greatest witness. This is by no means an excuse not to share the gospel with my words, but it is a reminder that it needs to be more then words. If people can’t see a difference in me why should they want what I have? Does your life and words preach the same message? Would it be a good or a bad thing if people started following your example in every area of life?

Could I get wisdom and a side of fries please?

Prov 4:5-6

5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. NKJV

- There are rewards for getting wisdom.

- vs 6 They will preserve you

- vs 6 They will keep you vs 12

- vs 8 She will permute you

- vs 8 She will bring you honor

- vs 9 She will be an ornament of grace on you

- vs 9 She will crown you with glory

Prov 4:7

Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. NIV

- Wisdom is available to all (Prov 1:20-21), but one must get it. That means there is effort required on our part. Vs 13

- There is a price to pay for wisdom, it says it may cost all you have.

o You may have to leave things Prov 9:6,

o Let go of pride receive correction Prov 9:8-9

o You may have to shut up and listen Prov 4:10

o Fear the Lord and hate Evil Prov 9:10

RUN!!! 1 Cor 10:14

1 Cor 10:14

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. NKJV

- Flee from; we are not to flirt with Sin. There shouldn’t be any gray. When we see an opportunity to sin we need to get up and run. Don’t flirt with the idea of sin. Flirting with sin is a game that you cannot win. 1 Cor 6:18; Prov 5:8

Long Life and Great Life Prov 3:2

Prov 3:2

For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. NKJV

- God’s way seems to work better then ours, the results listed look good.

- 1. length of days, 2. long life. 3. Peace.

o Just a thought normally we look at length of days as long life but here it lists them both. If we do things God’s way we will get more out of our days. God’s way has more bang for your buck.

- Prov 16:25, Isa 55:9; Prov 4:10

Are you a “know it all” Prov 1:7

Prov 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. NKJV

- Realizing God is smarter then you is the first step to wisdom, living for Him rather then yourself.

- Isa 55:9; Prov 16:25; Prov 8:13, 20; 9:10

- He who thinks they know it all is a fool.
